About the Author

Wayne E. Reilly retired from the Bangor Daily News after 28 years as a reporter, editorial writer and assignment editor. Since then he has written hundreds of columns for the newspaper about life and events in Bangor and surrounding communities a century ago. Some of his columns have been collected in the book "Remembering Bangor: The Queen City Before the Great Fire." He has also edited two books on Civil War-era history and many articles for other publications.
